Curtis Group Architects worked with Legacy Consulting to develop a comprehensive facility plan for Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in early 2011, which covers the planning period of 2011 – 2017. Nanticoke’s existing hospital is a 139-bed facility, originally constructed in 1950, with the most recent additions occurring in 2006. The 60-year-old facility presented a number of challenges which limited the ability to meet patient preference and service level standards. Additionally, the campus is landlocked, limiting its flexibility for future expansion. CGA’s planning objective was to develop a forecast and demand for inpatient and outpatient services and market plans that include growth projections. An assessment was completed on the existing facility, which identified and evaluated the facility’s options for meeting patient demand.
